Brief History
Indigneous still in Argentina are the Quecha and Mapuche. The first coloniztion of Spian in what is now Argentina was at Buenos Aires in 1580. In 1776 they made the Vice Royalty of Rio de la Plata. Argentina declared its independence on July 9, 1816. A modern constitution was made in 1853, and a national unity government in 1861. From 1880 to 1930 Argentina was the 10 wealthiest nations in the world thanks to argiculture and foreign infrustructure. Argentina declared war on the Axis powers in WWII on March 27, 1945. The government attempt to contain Argentina during the great depression lead to a coup by Juan Domingo Peron. The military got rid of the constituional goverment in 1943. When he became president in 1946 he Peronist or Justicialista party(PJ). On March 11, 1973 Argentina had general elections for the first time in 10 years. They elected Peron's stand-in as president Dr. Hector Campora. Peron came back in July of 1973 but died a year later in 1974 with his wife succeeding him until a coup by the miltary removed her. From 1976-1983 Argentina was controlled by the military coup who also tried unsucessfully to take the Falkland Islands from Great Britain in 1982. Carnival is to Draw in a Record- Breaking Number of People:
The Argentine Tourism Ministry is saying that their is going to be a record breaking number of people two million and they're going to make about 1,600m dollars. Many cities in Argentina are maknig lots of money and there getting an increase of employment from it. Buenos Aires is said to send about 2,400 buses for the festivities and President Kircher said that she is extending Carnival by one day which is widely popular with the masses.
Two people were killed in a car accident:
Two people were killed in a car accident February 20, 2012. They got into the accident near Mar del Plata when they crashed into the center barrier and their car caught on fire. The driver of the car lost control and flipped it a couple times before it caught on fire. The firefighters arrived a few minutes later but the people had been announced dead and their bodies were so badly burnt that they were unable to be identified. They think that because of Carnival the heavy traffic has been causing accident near cities.
